Scope In this hands-on workshop, attendees will access a comprehensive library of materials data; discover tools to help chart and analyze property data; and support better materials decisions using a systematic multi-objective material selection approach. Luca Masi is an aerospace engineer leading university-related activities in the Americas for Granta Design. He has run materials selection short courses at universities (Georgia Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, Boston University, University of California, Irvine) and conferences (TMS, MS&T, ASEE). Before joining Granta, he collaborated with the French Space Agency on software development for bio-inspired space trajectory optimization, and on computational techniques for multi-objective optimization as part of his Ph.D.
At the Advanced Space Concepts Laboratory, University of Strathclyde (United Kingdom). He authored several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on these subjects. He also has R&D industrial experience in spacecraft propulsion systems. Masi holds a master’s degree (first class) in space engineering and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy).
