Hi all, I have a client with a broken Harris CD Link system following a lightning strike Thursday night. It is the only pair that I have at any client and they can't find the manuals. I have located a.pdf of the manual. The TX shows 2w fwd and SWR of 1.04. No faults or warnings. I am assuming that this unit is fine. The RX started out showing 76.6 uV w/ quality of 0.0%, BER of 0.0E-00.
After removing the AES from the Orban processor it read 76.6uV but a quality varying between 50-60% but I don't recall the BER. It was alternating between a couple of Warning faults for Sig Quality and I believe BER. If I am reading the.pdf manual correctly, that should be an abundance of RF signal. The path is abt 6 miles & clear. Ecs Geforce6100pm M2 V2 0 Lan Drivers Download. We removed both the RX and TX to be evaluated by Harris but quickly learned that they are now charging $2400 EACH flat rate repair.
The owner immediately said that he would buy a new composite pair before spending $5k on repairing these. We were going to check the RX at the studio before shipping. However, upon plugging it in at the studio, the display blinked once and never showed any life again. So am assuming that the PS (at least) has gone toes up. We were not able to carry the TX to the RX location to check the RX antenna but will do so next week. If the RX signal strength that we are seeing is as strong as I believe, I doubt that there is a problem w/ the rx antenna. All of my loaner/rental STL units are in use elsewhere so can't test that way.
They are on the air via a verizon aircard and their online stream. It actually sounds pretty good as long as the connection doesn't drop. Questions: Is there an aftermarket open frame PS compatible with the RX? I have seen posts on other reflectors about power supply problems and that they are an off the shelf PS but can't find any reference to a specific part number.
The manual only notes Harris's # and a description of PS001. There are no generic numbers visible on the PS. Anyone ever saw a PS problem that affected the RX decode quality? There was no other indication that the PS was bad until the RX failed to come back on following a 6 mile ride to the studio. Does anybody know of a repair facility that doesn't charge an arm and both legs. I have sent an email to Mike Patton and am awaiting reply.
I think you're on your own. Harris did the same with their Aurora series of 5.8 MHz link equipment, wanting more than the units cost just to check them out. You should be able to buy another power supply if you can figure out what the original is supposed to be putting out. The size seems to be an industry standard. I think I had to research one for the Aurora. Buy some Ubiquity equipment to replace it.
